Alyssa is a self-taught abstract artist based in Austin, Texas. Born in Canada to East African parents of Indian descent, her work is shaped by a life spent moving between cultures, places, and seasons of change — including most recently motherhood. Working with acrylic paint, textiles, beads, stencils, and personal fabrics, she builds through layering, covering, tearing back, and rebuilding. The process mirrors life itself: messy, emotional, unfinished, and constantly evolving.

Unresolved SeriesThe Unresolved Series explores what it means to be a work in progress. Inspired by the “8 Cs of Self,” curiosity, clarity, compassion, confidence, creativity, connectedness, courage, and calm, Alyssa’s work reflects the tension between holding onto what shaped us and letting go of what no longer fits.
